The Haddlestick Band is a new band for 2008. The Band has a large repertoire of original, traditional and modern dance music. The band's varied sound is a fusion of traditional and modern elements of music and style accompanied by a solid electric rhythm section.
Who's Who ...
Ali upright bass, bass guitar
Ali comes from Oxford. He has wide experience of playing guitar and bass in rock and folk bands. His devotion to music and dance has led him to morris dancing, and he is a long standing member of Kirtlington Morris. He also plays bass guitar in the Woodpecker Band.
Dave guitar, banjo
Dave has played guitar with many different bands around Oxford. He currently plays guitar for the Woodpecker Band and hatches many of the tune arrangements. His diverse musical experience has built a recording reputation.
Kev drums, percussion
Kev is a multi instrumentalist and is responsible for much of the band's original material. He previously played drums for the Woodpecker Band.
Sally fiddle, whistle
Sally's life began when she discovered folk music, fiddle and song 13 years ago having first dabbled with the 'early' music scene. She is well known on the Beds/Bucks session scene and plays for local dance sides the Grand Union Rappers and Stony Steppers. She now 'passes on' traditional tunes to youngsters at the local weekend music school.
Tom mandolin, keyboards, guitar
Tom has a vast repertoire of folk tunes, is an experienced dancer and plays in a number of local bands.
The Ceilidh
The Barn Dance, or Ceilidh, has seen a huge increase in popularity in recent times. A Barn Dance is great fun for all ages, so is especially suitable for weddings, social functions and fund raising events. The band provide a caller (MC) who explains the dance before the music starts and continues, if necessary, throughout the dance. Celebrity callers are available or organisers can arrange their own. The band will be pleased to help you plan your event. Depending on factors such as venue size, expected attendance etc we will put together a package to suit your needs. A professional sound system will be provided.
